Some random pictures from the past few days. We got our Christmas tree up on Saturday and decorated it on Sunday…Charlie is an ornament hanging MASTER. ) Here’s a pic of “her” area of the tree. She kept insisting that there weren’t enough ornaments in her area when we suggested that she try spreading it around a bit.

Brady has gotten really distrustful of the camera in his old age. After this picture, he slunk underneath the desk behind him as if he thought I would beat him with the camera….?? I have no idea, maybe he’s just getting quirky. Yes, those of you that know him are saying “GETTING” quirky?? )

Another day at the dog show

Yes, I really need two separate blogs…a mommy blog and a dog mommy blog. Although on this particular weekend they are intermixed, because Jack went with me to the dog show yesterday (his first!) and Charlie went with me today. After I was done showing today, Charlie demanded that it was “HER turn to walk Lizzie around and have ME clap”. She settled for getting to walk Lizzie out the door to the car, which always gets lots of comments because hello, cute 3 year old walking her doggie. :love: Lizzie is SUCH a good girl, she never pulls on the leash and Charlie is good about keeping a grip on it (and we put it over her wrist just to be a little more careful). Not that Lizzie would go anywhere if the leash fell anyway.

Anyway, it was a great weekend for us as Lizzie won on Friday and today both, for 5 more points. That brings her up to 10 points total and both majors. Now I just have to figure out where our next show will be, and whether I can get her finished before the Nationals to put her in the Megan…

Pumpkin pickin!

Although ironically, we did not actually purchase any pumpkins. There is a pumpkin farm here that puts on quite a show for this time of year…rides, swings, games, pumpkin cannons, hay maze, etc etc. It’s quite a zoo. At $8 per head to get into the joint, I guess they’d better have some stuff to do other than just buy a pumpkin LOL! Of course they also have pumpkins, all shapes, sizes and colors. We decided to forgo the pumpkins for now though, until we get into our new house. Supposedly it will be finished this Friday (19th)…it was supposed to be the 12th but has been pushed back again.

Anywho. Charlie had a good time, although she didn’t sleep well last night and was a bit “on the edge” the whole time we were there. She doesn’t deal well with things when she’s not well rested, but she managed to not throw a fit (oh how I love this age) about anything, whew. Is it sad that I’m happy about that? My standards for good social behavior have obviously dropped fairly low.

Happy Birthday Charlie!

Today my baby girl turns 3! It is so hard to believe that it has been 3 years since she came into our lives. Here are a few of my favorite pictures from her first 3 years.

Halloween ’06

Charlie’s first "real" haircut

I’ve generally been happy to just trim Charlie’s hair myself. Until somewhat recently she had some cute big baby curls in her long hair, but as she’s gotten older they have gone away. *sobbing* Oh how I loved those curls! Cursed with pin-straight fine blond hair myself, I desperately hoped that she had gotten Dave’s wavy blond curls instead. Grass is always greener, and all that. So anyway, her longer hair tends to look stringy quickly, so I took her today to get it cut into a short bob. Of course, we had to have a photo shoot!

And my poor baby boy who is now nearly completely bald…but in his defense, he is growing new hair at a wicked fast rate! It feels like peach fuzz now and I see quite a bit of it in the light. Still, sigh.

Another house update

They aren’t going to make their original Sept 30th close date…but I don’t think they’ll be too far off. I cannot WAIT to move in! Can I just say how in love with this house I am?? It has more storage space than I think we could ever fill up…hooray! I love the layout. This is pretty much my dream house with the only exception being that in an ideal world I would like more land. Like, acres of it with trees and hills and a breathtaking view. But alas, we cannot afford the house AND the land, so house it is.

The kids were with us as we walked around. Jack repurposed the dining room into a nap area. Charlie followed us around jumping. I’m not sure what it is with kids this age and jumping…this girl would happily spend an hour or more just hopping around. Of course, in our 3rd floor apartment that makes for VERY unhappy neighbors below us…so we’ve had to make a no jumping rule. This makes her very sad (and whiny), so she spends pretty much all of our time outside of the apartment jumping everywhere. Today while she was jumping we learned that she can count to 10…in Spanish. Counting to 10 is not new for her, I think she’s up to counting to 100 in ENGLISH, but I had no idea that she could count in Spanish! I think I need to brush up on my Spanish skills, because the child is clearly already smarter than I am and I have to do my best to maintain at least the IMPRESSION that Mommy knows it all.

Kid updates

Charlie has settled in pretty well to having a new brother. She’s still being a bit more “high maintenance” than usual, but overall I’m very proud of her. She’s very sweet on Jack himself, and apparently at her preschool they hear ALL about him.

Jack has been great…he generally still sleeps a lot and hasn’t been too much of a pain at night. He eats well and is growing, he was 8 pounds 4 oz at his 2-week doctor’s appointment! They were amazed, they usually just want to see babies back up to birth weight by that age, but he’s put on a pound and a half over that. The boy likes to eat LOL!

Born on Monday, August 20th…introducing Jonathan David Lamy, a.k.a. “Jack”. ) 6 pounds 13 oz, 19.5 inches long, and doing great! We just got home and are getting settled…here are some pictures, and I’ll post more updates in a day or two.

Feeling nostalgic today

I was just booking a photography session with my favorite photographer for after the baby is born. I want to get really nice pictures of us as a whole family. This woman does beautiful work, but is pretty $$$ so we haven’t had pictures done since Charlie turned 1. Ironically, it was also 3 days after Leo joined our family, and I suggested to the photographer that I could bring him to the session. She looked at me like I was crazy, and I tried to reassure her that he was quite a mellow puppy (he was! I don’t know what happened to him!). Anyway, I was just reminiscing and looking back through the proofs….awwwwww.

There were a lot more pictures that didn’t include Leo, but trying to keep it somewhat dog-related…
